Session10: Coastal and regional ocean prediction in and around the PAMS region
Conveners: Naoki Hirose, Jianping Gan, Zhanggui Wang, Jie Xu
Session description:
Ocean modeling and data assimilation have been rapidly advanced on both global and regional scales, making ocean prediction a feasible task and practical operation. This session intends to bring together numerical modelers, technicians, and scientists studying and developing ocean models that provide hindcast and forecast at coastal and marginal scales. The target contributions are not limited to physical oceanography but also cover biogeochemical and environmental issues. The session will include discussions on technical details, physical interpretations, system validations, applications, and many aspects of coastal-regional ocean prediction. An objective of this session is to help bridge the gaps in communication and understanding about prediction services in and around the PAMS region.
